Wireless Network Engineer Job
• Engineers will have detailed responsibilities in the design, deployment, integration of Aruba based of 802.11a/b/g components Secure But Unclassified (SBU) and classified WLAN. Duties include integration of WLAN components into the local Metropolitan Area Network and installation and configuration of radius servers.
• The WLAN Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in 802.11 solutions development and implementation. Experience in the system design and implementation of complex enterprise wireless network solutions is required. Familiarity with current WLAN, WMAN, and WWAN technologies is required. Integration of Wireless Client devices a critical part of system design and implementation.
Successful candidates must have:
• Design/Implementation of enterprise class secure WLAN solutions with global/campus scope and scale for integration into the DoD".mil" and Federal".gov" enterprise IP network domains for the design, engineer, furnish, install, and test (EF&IT) of WLAN solutions on a large scale global enterprise networks across all tiers (CONUS & OCONUS) to include LAN/MAN/WAN environments.
• Specific experience in WLAN packet analysis; intrusion detection, performance analysis, and advanced design. An in-depth understanding of both wireless and wired network technology is essential with expert knowledge of all 802.11 (a,b,g) wireless networking, 802.1x, 802.11i, EAP, TTLS, TKIP, Radius, and radio frequency communication principals, including related wireless LAN technologies in the areas of site surveying, design, installation, management, security, analysis, troubleshooting, and integration with wired networks.
• Intimate knowledge of the inter-workings of IEEE 802.11 standards, verification of Layers 2,3, & 7 wireless LAN security solutions during security audits, implementing wireless LAN connectivity and security solutions, solid understanding of the security weaknesses of the threats to wireless LANs, designing and implementing and interoperable, scalable, and secure system for wireless LAN roaming, detailed site surveys using the latest surveying features of wireless LAN protocol analyzers, and using wireless LAN protocol analyzers for performance analysis, security solution verification, and 802.11 wireless LAN frame and process analysis. Capable of developing site survey, installation and testing related documentation.
• Travel to worldwide locations is required. Travel will typically range from a low of 30% to a high of 60-80% depending upon which program you work and your home/work location. Depending on project requirements, generally one week to three week deployments. Travel reimbursable using standard JTR per diem rates for locale.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology and 4+ years of experience relevant to the wireless network engineering field or,
Master's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology and 2+ years of experience relevant to the wireless network engineering field or,
• Significant equivalent and relevant experience in the network engineering field (8+ years).
• Relevant industry certification(s) are highly desirable:
• Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP)
• Wireless LAN Design Specialist Certification
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Requires minimum 4 years experience in WLAN system engineering, operation, maintenance / repair and/or installation
• Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio software.
Must possess or be able to qualify for a DoD Secret Security Clearance
