Our client is a privately owned company in the fastest growing industry in the world. They have established a world-class range of products for the mobile telecommunications industry that are used extensively by leading operators and suppliers around the globe. They are looking to recruit GSM / UMTS Product Support Engineers.
The role:
Product Support Engineers are responsible for ensuring the satisfaction of customers through the support and customization of software solutions. Acting in a primary customer support role, Product Support Engineers assist customers with product applications, compatibility, problem troubleshooting and technical resolution to all customer support issues. Product Support Engineers also assist in the testing of software before its delivery to the end-users, software delivery and other small engineering projects.
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) with experience working in a systems and services telecoms environment. 2G / 3G Cellular/wireless and engineering/customer support background is highly desirable.
Qualified candidates may possess help desk experience in small to mid-sized company environments or worked in a RF engineering type of role for a wireless operator or wireless hardware vendor.
In addition, qualified candidates should possess the following:
1. Pragmatic approach to problem solving; willing and able to take initiative to resolve issues
2. Adaptable, outgoing and dynamic: focused on delivering results.
3. Strong client focus and genuine desire to assist along with strong customer interfacing and troubleshooting skills.
4. Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
5. Excellent listening, oral and written communications skills.
6. Familiarity/experience with one or more cellular technologies.
7. Strong working knowledge of MS Windows 2000 and XP
Desirable skills:
1. Additional language skills from English will always be beneficial
2. Knowledge of TCP/IP and other protocols
3. Knowledge of VB and/or SQL scripting would be an advantage
4. IT technical support or help desk type knowledge supporting MS 2000 and XP clients with MS 2003 office applications including MS Excel a plus
