POSITION SUMMARY
The Professional Services Consultant will deliver high-value consulting and project management services to Research In Motion\'s largest and strategic customer base centered around the BlackBerry solution. You will be responsible for validation and improvements to customer BlackBerry environments through assessment and recommendation of RIM best practices around topics of: architecture, performance analysis, migration planning, scalability, consolidation, virtualization and capacity planning.
You will also have involvement in the Professional Services sales cycle and other Professional Services activities across North America including responding to proposals, client calls, identification of future opportunities, practice management, technical writing and other related tasks. You will also be speaking at and attending major strategic conferences for RIM.
PLEASE NOTE: Extensive travel throughout North America. Candidates can expect to spend upwards of 60-70% of their time traveling.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
General
• 10+ years experience as a technology consultant
• 10+ years experience designing and implementing enterprise scale infrastructures
Technical
• 3+ years experience architecting, administering and maintaining a BlackBerry Enterprise Server environment on one of more messaging environments (Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise)
• 2+ years experience maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server environment with emphasis on Active Directory, performance monitoring and security
• 1+ year\'s experience administering and maintaining a Microsoft SQL Server environment with emphasis on backup planning and high availability
• Broad knowledgebase around topics of disaster recovery, business continuity planning and defense in depth security
Project
• Experience with large IT Projects
• Background in Wireless consulting a definite asset
• Background in MS Exchange or Lotus Domino consulting
• Consulting experience for Fortune 1000 and strategic market accounts
• Ability to scope and size work efforts effectively
Personal
• Very strong communication skills (Oral, Verbal and Written)
• Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to handle large audiences are a must
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Proven customer management skills
• Strong tolerance to ambiguity
Education
• Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology or similar field
• Industry certifications pertaining to messaging system design and administration (Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise)
• Security concepts or network infrastructure an asset but experience given definite priority
