We just received this job requisition on July 9, 2008. Client is one of the largest engineering consulting firms in the world. This is a permanent position with a well-established public company that employs several thousand engineering and management consultants from various different disciplines including the public safety and telecommunications sectors.
Requisite Skills:
. Must be currently authorized for employment in the USA (USA citizen or permanent resident)
• Minimum eight years of progressive and intensive experience in the design and implementation of Public Safety wireless communications systems.
• A Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Knowledge of APCO P25 standards, conventional or trunked analog and digital LMR systems, wireless private or public safety communication equipment, and DES/AES encryption.
• Minimum four years of experience with troubleshooting and repairing LMR systems, subscriber equipment, and backhaul systems, including fiber optics, copper lines, and point-to-point microwave systems.
• Minimum four years of experience with VoIP and IP networking.
• Experience with satellite communications, primarily VSAT.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer communications skills, to include excellent written communications skills.
• Must have demonstrated ability to perform and supervise multiple tasks in parallel and the ability to operate with little supervision on an aggressive timeline.
• Must be able to effectively communicate project status and proactively identify and report issues and/or risks that threaten to impact project timelines or budget.
Preferred Skills:
• Previous experience in the design and implementation of Public Safety systems is highly desired.
• Experience consulting to or working for Land Mobile Radio vendors such as Motorola, EF Johnson, or MA/Com highly desired.
• Experience either working for, or consulting to, state and/or local government Public Safety agencies is highly desired.
• Cisco CCNA desired; CCNP highly desired.
• A Master\'s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline from an accredited college or university is highly desired.
• Active membership in industry associations such as APCO is desired.
