IT Software Engineer Internship
ICT department comprises in excess of 40 people made up of permanent and temporary staff. The department is split into the following operational areas: Operations Support, Network Support, Development and ICT Support.
Primary purpose of the position:
The successful candidate will initially be expected to support issues and development on the Portal and Document Distribution System. The successful candidate will therefore be expected to cross train onto chosen web development toolsets (Java/Oracle possibly .NET) and be familiar with the Unix platform and toolsets thereon (eg. Apache/Tomcat).
Key tasks:
Work as part of the Web Development Team, building generic web tools designed to facilitate rapid web development, deployment and maintenance.
To build and deploy Oracle Portlets using our in-house portal toolsets, possibly documenting and re-working existing business processes as part of this development.
To build and deploy Document Distribution System instances.
To build and deploy ad hoc web systems using our in-house web development tools.
Call logging, problem analysis and problem solving or delegation.
Provide end user support
Support and enhance the products post delivery.

Experience of UNIX and MS operating systems
Knowledge of RDBMS principles & SQL

Oracle 9i/10g,
PL/SQL,
W2K Server Implementations,
XML,
Java,
Apache/Tomcat,
IIS,
Sun Solaris,
Visual Studio .NET (C#),
Financial Package:
circa £15,700 PA dependent on qualifications and experience.
