Field Operation Technician II is responsible for maintaining and repairing cell site equipment and/or integrating EBTS/CDMA equipment. Responsibility includes: Routine, preventative and corrective maintenance on EBTS & support equipment, expansion work, outage resolutions, in-depth network system troubleshooting, system performance testing, installation and maintenance of EBTS and power equipment, calibration, tracking and reporting test equipment, respond to and resolve site outages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, inventory EBTS & site equipment (asset management), install, test & activation of capacity BR, conduct T1 testing and troubleshooting, terminate new site T1s, emergency generator deployment. In addition, the candidate is also responsible for acceptance testing of new sites, installation and commissioning of additional equipment, assisting in customer service troubleshooting resolution, and maintenance of an accurate service logbook.
Specialized advanced vocational skills acquired on or off the job, typically gained through a combination of education and relevant technical experience, totaling 3 4 years post-high school or equivalent.
Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environment.
Ability to exercise flexibility and resourcefulness (with assistance from others) in challenging and/or perplexing situations.
Able to document trouble conditions and corrective actions accurately, clearly and concisely in trouble-reporting system.
Ability to work various shifts and be on call as required.
Ability to identify all colors associated with telecommunications cable and equipment indicator lights.
Basic computer skills.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive long distances on and off road and to tow trailers. A CDL classification may be required for some vehicles.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and steep staircases.
Ability to work in remote and challenging locations including, but not limited to: rooftops, vaults, and all types of geographic locations.
The dexterity to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors.
Preferred: Typically filled by individuals with:
Very good oral and written communications skills.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with field operations specific trouble ticket and network database systems.
Previous experience working wireless networking system with specific knowledge of WiMax protocol and site optimization
