This strong commercial name, synonym of excellence since many years for the supplying of wireless services around the world is seeking an highly experienced Senior Staff UMTS RF Engineer.
Indeed our client is a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services based on CDMA, WCDMA, and other advanced technologies.
This is a staff level position that requires the ability to work closely with wireless operators on all aspects associated with the design, optimization and on-going operation of UMTS networks. The successful candidate should have the ability to understand complex technical issues and develop appropriate customer-focused solutions. Additionally, significant customer interaction is required as well as the ability to manage and direct the work of multi-disciplinary team of engineers. Specific focus is put on all RF related planning, design and optimization tasks.
Duties will include:
-Evaluation of infrastructure vendor RFPs
-RF Network Planning, including propagation model calibration, link budget definition, network planning tool configuration, coverage and capacity planning and network growth dimensioning
- RF and OTA Parametric Optimization and troubleshooting involving the use of various complex data collection and post-processing tools to assess UMTS network performance and propose solutions to problems
- The development of forward looking solutions to address network operator growth and expansion plans covering all network entities
- The presentation of complex technical ideas and results to multi-level, multi-disciplinary audience including senior-level executives
Skills/Experience:
-Working level experience with WCDMA including RF and cell planning, HSDPA and HSUPA is required
- Exposure to (automatic) network planning tools such as Atoll, Asset3G, Altaro is required
- An understanding of the UMTS protocol stack and call flows for voice and data services is required
- Exposure to a wireless operator working environment is required
- Proven track record with innovative problem solving and hands-on experience with UMTS network design, network troubleshooting, fine-tuning, and optimization is required
- A strong familiarity and understanding of 3GPP wireless standards is desirable
- Exposure to measurement and optimization tools such as QXDM, TEMS, Ethereal, Actix and COUEI is desirable
- Experience with GSM/GPRS/EDGE is desirable
- Experience with data services with knowledge of protocols such as TCP/UDP is desirable
- Experience in project management and in managing multi-functional engineering teams is desirable
- Bachelors (BS) or Masters Degree (MS) in Electrical or Communications Engineering
- 8+ years of telecoms engineering experience
- 5+ years experience in working with or at an operator, understanding operator organizations and needs
- German knowledge is highly appreciated
- Travel requirement 40-50%
