Position Overview
Provide hands on Network Architecture Switch and BTS-RBS trouble resolution as related to network system & non-system outages. Responsible for the operations & maintenance of Ericsson, Lucent or Nortel Switching equipment & BTS-RBS infrastructure. Maintenance will involve monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual tasks to be completed, including testing alarms (internal & external), use of various types of test equipment (voltage meter, power meter, spectrum analyzer, microwave test set, T1 tester & antenna sweep equipment) to document individual battery and system voltages, current draw, set output power, sweep antennas, pilot level calibration. Ability to trouble shoot network problems with minimal to no exposure of physically being in front of the equipment and still recommend isolation and resolution. On Call 24 x 7 which will include call outs to site locations as well as MSC to resolve trouble tickets that are opened from the NOC and or Customer Care Center. Ability to resolve Telco issues through extensive testing and escalation. Will use various test equipment (DS1/DS3 test set) to determine fault isolation and next steps for resolution. Must be familiar with Microwave design & Operations as well as RF Propagation processes. Ability to change switch parameters on the fly in accordance with RF recommendations. Collects network performance data. Example: performs drive testing and collects data for specific cell sites using the appropriate tools; works with RF & Sr. level Technicians for problem resolution. Monitors network alarms. Receives the alarm, diagnoses the problem and troubleshoots it.
Qualifications
Required AA degree in electronics or technical field or equivalent experienceComputer training (Word, Excel, Outlook)Unix training Vendor switch and site certifications to include Ericsson, Lucent, Nortel, Tellabs & Glenayre as applicable. Required Wireless telecommunications. Required 3-4 years of:Experience using applicable vendor data analysis tools to identify equipment related problems. Experience using the following tools: Spectrum analyzer, DS1/DS3 test set, antenna sweep equipment, microwave test set, power meter and multi-meter.Experience using switch and BTS-RBS translations knowledge related to the specific vendor. Experience using RF drive test equipment.Experience with RF theory and basic radiooperation.
