Position Overview:
We are searching for a Software Engineer. The engineer will be a member of the Platform and Global group in RTP and will develop embedded software for Sony Ericsson’s cellular telephone products. The engineer will be primarily responsible for designing and implementing software support for packet switched communication services. These services consist of audio and video transmission over an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core network based on 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards.
Day-to-Day Experience:
Specific responsibilities include design, development, integration, debug, and unit test of software modules and associated middleware that implement functionality in Sony Ericsson mobile phones. Development will be performed using C / Java programming language on an ARM processor.
Candidates should be experienced in software analysis, design and implementation in an embedded system environment. An ideal candidate will have expertise in both Java and C. Strong C programming skill is required and a good understanding of COM like IDL interfaces is desirable. A thorough understanding of Java fundamentals and experience implementing JSRs is highly desired.
Domain specific knowledge in SIP, RTP and 3GPP IMS standards is also desirable. Candidates should also have experience in version control tools (preferably ClearCase) and on device debugging (e.g. using TRACE32).
Engineer will work closely with developers and testers at this and other Sony Ericsson facilities to ensure that implemented software meets specified requirements. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, flexibility, ownership, strong communication skills and should be detail oriented.
