1. SCOPE
Basic Qualifications:
Candidate should posses a BSEE/or equivalent and have 3-5 years experience in IP-based networks or wireless environments.
Team Charter:
The WiMAX Lab team is responsible for the validation of Motorola’s new WiMAX technologies in a lab environment. The team will support the customer validation of Sprint’s first commercial WiMAX network in Chicago and surrounding areas. With this technology introduction, the team will also take a leadership role in helping define the methodology, processes, tools and procedures associated with deploying, testing and accepting large-scale WiMAX systems.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
The device engineer will play a major role in the customer validation and operations support of all Motorola-supplied equipment in Sprint labs. Other responsibilities:
• Assists in the planning, execution and reporting of ATP & customer specific validation test plans for Mobile Devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with WiMAX Mobile Device operation, configuration and performance (hardware, software, network entry and RF interfaces).
• Assess Mobile Device performance for Motorola ASN-GW and AP products integrated as an end to end solution.
• Work closely with peers and development organizations to develop common tools, test plans and processes to provide effective solutions and services to the customer for Mobile Devices.
• Assist in providing Mobile Device OJT to peers and customer personnel.
• Provide daily tactical technical support thru the duration of customer validation cycles.
• Work with market operations team, development groups and field support groups on field issues.
• Provide and/or demonstrated ability to skillfully handle complex technical issues with others
2. Skill sets for each resource category required:
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience in IP telephony/networking or wireless infrastructure role.
• Strong interpersonal and communications (written and oral) skills.
• Thorough understanding of IP telephony, LAN/WAN or similar areas required.
• Strong computer skills in UNIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows a must.
• Familiar with the methodology, tools and test equipment used for the optimization of Mobile IP based networks (voice and data).
• Familiarity with corporate firewalls, IP security, VPN strategies, VoIP, and application/proxy servers as it relates to Mobile Devices is highly desirable.
• A strong emphasis is required on being able to troubleshoot and resolve systems integration and performance issues.
• Must be able to represent Motorola in a professional manner, be self-motivated, and be able to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
• Must exhibit a strong commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
3. LOCATIONS AND MOTOROLA PROVIDED EQUIPEMENT
Base of operation will be located in Reston, VA.
Normal hours of operation M-F 8:00AM to 5:00PM additional work hours may be required as well as weekend.
