Work as part of a team and plan & design optical network using a mixture of dark and lit fibers.
• Work closely with microwave design team and a Dark/Lit fiber broker company contracted, to develop optical network that meets the technical requirements in the most cost effective and timely manner
. Technical requirements include bandwidth requirements at optical nodes and MSCs;
availability, and del
ay performance requirements specified by Client • Coordinate the optical network planning and design work with the planning & design of 4G transport using alternative networks such as cable MSO, Client owned optical network, etc.
• Work closely with third party optical equipment vendors to develop optical ring network design details including detailed Bill of Materials and prices in accordance with standard templates, over a 10 year planning & design period.
This may require the use of Client\'s optical network planning and design tools such INDT, optical configurators, tools provided.
• In conjunction with services organizations, ensure the proper pricing of all the services related to the optical equipment installation, integration, maintenance, etc.
• Produce documentation on the process, high level and detailed design of the optical network using MS Power Point, Excel , and MapInfo, MapPoint software
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by the lead Engineer outside the optical network planning and design area such as TCO, LEC T1 Designs.
• The project duration could be extended or shortened as decided by Client.
• Skills required: BA/BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar field; Minimum of 5 years of NPDO experience in planning & designing transport and/or optical networks using dark and lit fiber solutions; competency in using MS Power Point, MS Excel software. Experience with Map Info is strongly desired.
The person should be strongly motivated, able to work with minimal guidance; be able to learn, execute and deliver in new areas quickly. |
