In September 2009 COE was formed to provide skilled manpower with expertise in all areas of mobile operations to support existing projects and ensure service delivery excellence from day one for new start-ups in the MEA region.

Projects worked on as part of COE

Due Diligence for Zain East Africa We undertook detailed assessment of Zain's network operations in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda & Madagascar. This involved management meetings and site visits for physical network inspections. The detailed analysis of Zain's East Africa operations included network rollout, assumptions on revenues, direct costs, operating expenditure and capital expenditure. Our work highlighted key risks and quantified additional needs. The DD helped us in preparing a full technical and commercial bid along with a detailed business model that was used to support the decision makers in the evaluation process.

Operations Support Vodacom MS, Tanzania Tasked to evaluate, identify gaps and bring improvements in the O&M capabilities, operations environment, processes including the spare part management and putting in place a spares tracking mechanism, as well as the capability of transplanting and utilizing proven O&M experience.

Transformation for EMTS MS, Nigeria Evaluated EMTS MS Operations to mitigate risks, streamline and improve the operational systems and processes specifically, support better management reporting, information flow to maintain stability, availability and manage costs.

Transition & Transformation, Zain Uganda As part of the transition team and also responsible for the Network Operations I worked directly and in collaboration with Zain's demand organization, Services Managers, Facility Managers, and existing support areas to ensure a smooth tranisition of Zain's 79 member team into NSN while ensuring business continuity. Included in these duties but not limited to were KPI Verification, novation of 3rd party contracts, identification of inflight projects, review of operation processes, identification of resource gaps.

Due Diligence for Millicom Tanzania Lead a Due Diligence team as part of the procurement process to put together a proposal for outsourcing of Millicom Tanzania's Mobile Network and IT Operations. Our approach to the Due Diligence centered upon the following areas of information-gathering Overall baseline of operational costs, KPI & SLA review, IT/Communication network analysis, HR, processes, assets and some third party contracts.

Operations Support, Zain Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda Supporting and mentoring NOC Managers to insure the implementation of processes, procedures, best practices to carry the NOC duties and ensuring network KPIs in accordance with the contractual obligation are met with the highest quality and standards.


Manager, Network Operations Centre - (Managed Services - du Project) NSN, United Arab Emirates May 06 - Sep 09

As NOC Manager I was responsible for the day to day operations of dus multi-vendor 2G and 3G Access, Core and Transport network. My primary responsibilities include delivery of 1st & 2nd line NOC operations, change management, performance and configuration management. With team leads managing day to day activities in their respective areas I ensured successful delivery of Network Operating Services as per the agreed SLAs and KPIs.

Huawei Swap in Northern Emirates Responsible for overseeing the Radio hardware swap of NSN equipment with Huawei Radio equipment in the Northern Emirates.

Du Managed Services Transition to Ericsson As part of the transition team I was responsible to ensure a smooth transition of the Network Operations Centre from NSN MS to Ericsson MS.

The Business Process outsourcing arm of Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) known as The Contact Centre is a key nodal service points for the corporation. The Internet Services Help Desk at this state-of-the art Contact Centre offers dedicated, round the clock, high quality technical support on various hardware and software platforms to its local and international customers was logging over 100,000 calls per month.
