Project experiences

A link-level simulation using Matlab/Simulink showed how channel capacity in a WCDMA cellular network is affected by the propagation characteristics of the field either in Uplink or Downlink, how user mobility impacts capacity, and how perfect correlation properties improve the receiver efficiency without adding noise in the channel.
Role of perfect power control for minimizing the near-far effect in the WCDMA model was shown for a number of users with a distribution of different transmitted power level values.
In the thesis study a system model implementing the Dedicated Physical Data Channel (DPDCH) of the WCDMA physical layer structure operating in UTRA (FDD) mode was implemented.
