Network System Design Engineer jobs
Identify network integrity, performance and congestion issues.• Must have an understanding of traffic trends (CPUOC/BHCA) and how they impact the network. • Ability to interpret traffic data and design the hardware and/or software needs according to the traffic trends. • Understanding of the Switch Fabric Matrix (the various components that interface with the specific Vendor Switches). • Understanding of augmenting facilities from A to Z (DACS, IP’s, IMT’s IST’s, trunking, transport facilities) to support traffic. • Understanding of various network interfaces (A-links, F-links, A-ter etc) Understanding of SS7 Network and configuration. • Understanding of data network design (to include SGSN/GPRS/ATM). • Ability to gather required network information from the customer by issuing work-orders to collect CIQ’s, BDIQ’s, MDD, site surveys, and other data. • Providing cut-sheets for large migration projects. • Working with various OSS’s that facilitate the implementation, design and installation of hardware and/or software for various markets (i.e. HOMER/Cramer, Remedy, Metrica, REWSS or comparable WEB client interfaces). • Understanding of hardware equipment and ability to inventory cabinets, shelves, ports, and/or circuit paths in Granite/Cramer database. • Ability to work with multiple vendors and functional engineering work-groups. • Ability to send requests for quotes for specific equipment needs. • Ability to responds to network outages by assisting in network design changes. • Ability to initiate work-orders and all necessary work order tasks to complete engineering project. • Proficient with WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, VISIO, and Microsoft Project (is a plus).
