NSS Network System Design Engineer jobs

• Understanding of switch architecture.

• Understands how various switches (Ericsson, Nortel, Nokia, Alcatel’s Media Gateway / Call Sever) are integrated into the local network.

• Able to build the node in Granite and map out each path per engineering.

• Identify / assign Switch connectivity to SS7 (to include path diversity).

• Identify / assign Switch connectivity to BITS clock (to include path diversity).

• Identify / assign Switch connectivity to DSX1/FDP and to the DACS (to include path diversity).

• Identify / assign Switch connectivity to trunks (to include processes for definition of trunk groups – who orders the trunks, who tests the trunks’ facilities, who defines the trunks, who defines the data translations and who is responsible for test/turn-up the trunks).

• Identify / assign necessary echo canceller requirements for trunking needs both internal (for example: Ericsson / Spatial echo canceller pools) or external (for example: Tellabs 3300 or 3600 systems).

• Identify / assign Switch connectivity to the BSS network (to include BSC and IP BSC connections).

• Identify / assign BSC reparenting processes for load balancing between NSS network elements).

• Identify / assign Switch connectivity to OSS/NMS network for TCP/IP network connectivity.

• Can identify how a new NSS element impacts the MTSO as follows: Identify impact on DCS port availability.

• Identify impact on DSX1 or FDP port availability .

• Identify impact on environmental systems (additional HVAC).

• Identify impact on floor space.

• Identify impact on power systems (BDFB, PDF (Ericsson), battery, generator expansions).

• Identify impact on BITS clock.

• Identify impact on corporate nodes (SS7, HLR, AUC, etc).
