T-Mobile has revealed the release date for its next Android OS-powered smartphone, the myTouch 3G Slide: June 2.It will sell for $180 after $50.00 mail-in rebate and with a two year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan. This is expected be the replacement for the venerable T-Mobile G1, which debuted way back in 2008. Overview of the T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide T-Mobile is positioning the smartphone as a "crossover" device, which means it's good for both business and personal use. It will have a 3.4-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) touchscreen, slide-out landscape-oriented keyboard, and a trackpad. The Slide will run Android OS 2.1, which comes with a suite of communication, Internet and personal productivity software. An upgrade to Android OS 2.2 will be released later this year. This HTC model will be the debut of the Faves Gallery, which has been designed to make it easier to communicate with to friends and family in a wide variety of ways. It will also have voice recognition software that will allow the user to control many of the standard functions with spoken commends. Naturally, the myTouch 3G Slide will be able to access T-Mobile's voice and 3G networks. It will also have Wi-Fi and stereo Bluetooth.
