SiBEAM unveils world’s first Dual Mode WiGig RF Transceiver/WirelessHD and Development Kit

SiBEAM, Inc. the world’s leading millimeter wave solutions innovator and high-speed wireless communications platforms developer, unveiled today the availability of the first WiGig/WirelessHD solution, the WiGig/WirelessHD RF transceiver and the SK8100 Development Kit. Created based on the WiGig and WirelessHD standard, the SB8110 is now available and the kit will be in stores this June.

The WirelessHD was established as the first 60 GHz standards organisation for wireless applications in electronics, mobile devices and personal computing; it now belongs to the IEEE 802.15.3c standard.

As new specifications of 60 GHz have recently stepped into the market, SiBEAM has assessed and evaluated the market opportunity of 60 GHz as a member of WirelessHD Wireless Gigabit (WiGig) Alliance, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and, as such, has developed its products to gauge demand and encourage market adoption for the 60 GHz in various wireless applications.

60 GHz chipsets has been shipped by SiBEAM based on the standard of WirelessHD since 2008. Its system for semiconductor gives the only available option to send uncompressed, multi-gigabit wireless high definition data, audio and video. Electronic products from Cables To Go, Gefen, Sony, Best Buy’s Rocketfish brand, LG Electronics and Panasonic have been shipping since last year.
