China's 3 telecom giants see 3G users' growth in January

China's three telecom giants, including China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom released their operation data in January Monday and the figures show an increase in the number of third-generation (3G) users.

According to the figures, the users of China Mobile in January totaled at 527 million, and those who use the Time Division (TD) services reached 3.9 million.

Also, the net increase of the China Mobile's users in January was 5.12 million.

China Telecom's newly increased Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) users was 3.05 million and the total number of the CDMA users amounted to 59.1 million.

However, in January, China Telecom's fixed-line phone users shrank 1.9 million compared with a month earlier to reach 187 million, while the broadband users saw a month-on-month increase of 790,000 to reach 54.25 million.

As for China Unicom, the growth of the 3G users has exceeded that of the 2G users for consecutive three months. China Unicom's total users have reached 146 million and the 3G users have amounted to 3.6 million.

In January, China Unicom saw an increase of 853,000 in the number of 3G users.
