Verizon Wireless increases 3G capacity in Wisconsin

US wireless communications service provider Verizon Wireless has completed a major capacity improvement project for its high-speed 3G network in Wisconsin, the company reported on Wednesday.

Verizon Wireless said that this capacity improvement will ensure that it continues to stay ahead of its customers' growing data usage on their smartphones, wireless modems and handsets.

The project entailed adding 3G capacity on 350% more cell sites in Wisconsin in 2010, as compared to 2009. This reportedly increased the data capacity of the network by 40% across the state.

The company said that its ongoing network investment in Wisconsin now totals over USD354.5bn, out of a total of USD60bn invested nationally since it was formed.
