17/08/2010 By Mark Smith ( Source: http://www.heraldscotland.com ) Spartan Solutions buoyed by airport software agreementGlasgow-based Spartan yesterday said it was rolling out its Phalanx software system at Spirit’s European headquarters at Prestwick Airport. Phalanx will marry Spirit’s goods received and invoicing systems, and improve efficiency and reducing costs. Spartan said it developed Phalanx to complement existing ERP and purchasing systems in the energy sector. It will be used to manage goods receipts for Spirit Europe’s major programmes, which include the high volume Airbus A320 family of aircraft, the Airbus A380 Super-jumbo jets, as well as Boeing 777, 767 and 747-8 aircraft. Under the Phalanx system, received equipment and associated supplier paperwork is tagged with a barcode or RFID chip which, when scanned by hand-help mobile devices – also supplied by Spartan – will confirm the equipment matches the supplier order. Once the received goods have been processed, the Spirit finance team barcode scan the associated supplier invoice to automatically match against the Spirit purchase order. Jim Green, managing director of Spartan, said: “This major contract is a breakthrough for Spartan and our Phalanx solution into the aerospace market. “Phalanx enables Spirit to reduce their goods receipt time, minimise stockholding, increase efficiency, improve key supplier relationships and eliminate expensive manual error.” Spirit becomes the latest addition to Spartan’s client list, which also includes temporary power giant Aggreko, as well as major oil and gas service providers including Swire Oilfield Services and Aker Solutions. << back to RF Wireless Technologies category Discuss Telecom wireless news in RF Wireless Technologies category Spartan Solutions buoyed by airport software agreement on 3G Wireless Jobs Forums
