Samsung i909 (Galaxy S) GSM/CDMA Android smartphone shows up

The Samsung i909 is a new member of the successful Galaxy S family and it’s the only one that has both GSM and CDMA/EV-DO connectivity.

Now, before thinking this would make a great world phone for Verizon or Sprint, you should know that the i909 is destined for China Telecom (which also has a CDMA Samsung Wave) and it will likely not be released by any other carrier outside China.

Like the Galaxy S available in Europe and North America, the Samsung i909 features a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 5MP autofocus camera. It also has WAPI and 16GB of internal memory.
The i909 probably runs Android 2.1 – although, seeing what HTC has done, it could very well run Android 2.2. At the moment there’s no word on when the Samsung i909 will be available to Chinese customers, though that day shouldn’t be far away.
