Details *Protocol Interoperability Development Test Engineer / Specialist*

This role involves managing our clients platform related LTE/SAE, WCDMA and GSM radio inter-working testing activities with selected 3rd party network infrastructure vendors. This is a key role in shaping our clients LTE/SAE, WCDMA and GSM technology development, and can provide valuable experience to allow progression into more senior project management.

Key requirements
- Participate in SW Interoperability development testing (IODT) within infrastructure vendor laboratories, create testing reports and perform analysis of issues found during the testing.
- Represent Renesas and liaise with counterparts in infrastructure vendor companies to plan, agree and co-ordinate interworking test sessions and loaned test equipment.
- Cooperate with counterparts in other Protocol SW groups responsible for other parts of the bearer software, to ensure full system level test coverage is achieved.
- Track and communicate information about current IODT activities and results to both internal and external groups.
- Establish and maintain IODT processes and procedures and ensure their compliance by IODT engineers.
- Provide technical consultancy and services related to LTE/SAE, WCDMA and GSM protocol software.
- Provide technical consultancy and participate in customer trials as required.

Required Competencies
- Understanding of full software development life-cycle and at least 3 years experience in software development and/or software testing.
- Detailed technical understanding of LTE/SAE, WCDMA/3G and GSM radio (L1 to L3) and core network protocols and their implementation to a terminal environment. This will have been gained in a hands-on role in development, integration and/or testing of terminals.
- Detailed understanding of LTE/SAE, WCDMA/3G and GSM system architecture and standards, particularly radio related aspects.
- Understanding of the mobile business environment, and the ability to prioritize based on business need.
- Experience and understanding of testing principles and practices, preferably in a mobile environment.

Desirable Competencies
- Some experience in a customer or collaborator (infrastructure vendor, test equipment suppliers etc) facing role.
- An understanding of LTE/SAE, WCDMA/3G and GSM from a network perspective, to complement the required terminal related knowledge.
- Experience and understanding of testing principles and practices, preferably in a mobile environment.
- Embedded software development and/or testing experience.
- Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
