My client is globally recognised for the network solutions it provides they are currently recruiting for a Network Data Support Engineer to be based in Hertfordshire. This is a massive opportunity to really progress your career.
You will be responsible for providing high-level technical support via telephone on a daily basis, reviewing and debugging customer network data and packet traces in order to help customers resolve network problems, often in business critical and pressured situations.
Skills and Experience:
Practical hands on experience in the Data, VOIP, LAN, switching and routing technology. Prefer candidates with 3Com product and or experience with the configuration and trouble shooting of multi-vendor networks.
The candidate must be skilled in Ethernet protocols, router protocols, and large enterprise network system installation and troubleshooting.
Ability to demonstrate strong technical skills in two or more of the following areas:
- Physical layer LAN and WAN protocols (including but not limited to 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet standards (IEEE 802.3), Frame Relay, ADSL, ISDN, ATM, OC3, OC12).
- Bridging and routing protocols (including, but not limited to TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, Spanning Tree, VLANS.).
- Network traffic classification and prioritization, including QoS, DSCP, 802.1P, traffic queueing and reduction techniques over Local and Wide Area networks.
- Wireless standards IEEE 802.11A/B/G standards and wireless encryption techniques such as WEP, WPA and Radius Authentication.
- PC operating systems with working knowledge of IP Addressing, DHCP technology and 802.1x/Radius authentication
Knowledge of 3Com switch and router products is a PLUS, as is the ability to connect to competing vendor?s hardware, software and applications in regards to specialty. |
