POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating complex system level issues raised during Wi-Fi IOT Testing and during connectivity interaction testing amongst technologies such as GSM/WCDMA/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/USB on BlackBerry handhelds. Responsibilities involve setting up and maintaining the IOT test environment, developing test cases and test scripts, as well as writing and carrying out WLAN Certification test plans.
The successful candidate will troubleshoot test environments, analyze logs, communicate the root cause of test case failures and drive issues to resolutions, working directly with feature developers to correct handset software for confirmed issues. He/she will also drive the specification of new test requirements in order to increase the effectiveness of our RIM\'s internal IOT test coverage and participate into the development of automated test frameworks.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Telecommunications/ Electrical Engineering
Solid understanding of embedded software and hardware architecture is required
5+ years experience in software development and/or software testing of wireless networks and/or mobile devices (i.e. GSM, WCMDA, CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, WIMAX)
2+ years experience in software development and/or testing of 802.11 a/b/g/n Wireless Local Area Networks and/or WLAN software on mobile devices
Excellent knowledge of 802.11 a/b/g/n protocols
Good knowledge of USB v1.0, v1.1, v2.0 protocols
Good knowledge of Bluetooth protocols
Hands-on experience with WiFi/Bluetooth/USB test tools and debugging tools
Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to understand complex subject matter across different technologies
Ability to quickly grasp and learn new technical concepts
Strong technical skills and great attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to handle multiple high priority tasks during peak product testing cycles
Strong interpersonal skills to work closely with other team leaders and members and drive projects to completion
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
Ability to write test scripts in a variety of languages (Tcl/Tk, perl, Python, C++, csh, ksh)
Experience with automated test equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
Previous experience with Bluetooth compliance testing requirements
Previous experience with USB compliance testing requirements
Experience with USB charging and power consumption measurements
