POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Corporate Director, Environmental Health & Safety, the Manager, EHS Support Services is responsible for managing a team of organizational health, environment, emergency & disaster planning and ergonomics professionals to ensure that the programs have high standards, with innovative, achievable objectives. Team performance is measured at a level of high efficiency in a corporate/ regional model demonstrating external cost reductions, effective utilization of resources, and strong external and internal partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. (25%) Directs programs for design, development and implementation of EHS Specialty services of organizational health, environment, emergency and disaster planning and ergonomics, including
Restructuring processes and setting global infrastructure to streamline efficiency and meet the demands of a fast growing company, incorporating flexibility while maintaining specialty compliance.
Ensuring EHS compliance in program development & initial implementation in these specific specialty areas (ongoing responsibility for educating and providing resources for functional teams in regions)
Audit & review testing of specialty programs for areas of improvement or efficiency levels.
Ensuring that all specialty services meet legislative requirements and are associated with foreign guidelines and have strong networking with local external agencies world-wide (Public Health, Emergency Services, Workers\' Compensation).
Responsible for preparedness of RIM in emergency situations, directing the design, testing, maintaining and evaluation of Emergency response programs globally and ensuring that the information is easily accessible, updated and communicated.
Responsible for ensuring Professional credentials and actions under health care regulations and colleges.
Initially this role will be required to gain an excellent understanding of these service groups and take on a possible redesign of the groups in a way that meets global business needs focusing from hands on service to consultation.

2. (25%) Facilitates an effective and efficient response globally to compliance issues related to EHS specialty services, including
Being the direct focal point for Worker\'s compensation/insurance cost analysis to ensure strategy for prevention
Responsible for global Human Rights activity related to disability or physical functional testing.
Directing the proper assignment of claim costs and audits statements and case management to ensure effectiveness and appropriate designation of claims. Advising team on direction of appeals, external representation and return to work. Escalates cases to legal, and initiates facilitation of OD policy changes resulting from case management.
Responsible for global legislation interpretation in the specialty areas to ensure the company is in compliance with Workers Compensation, Human Rights, ADA, FMLA, and other global legislative or external policy requirements. The incumbent is not required to have an in-depth knowledge of legislative requirements in every jurisdiction globally. Where in-depth knowledge is required the Senior Manager, EHS Support Services will reach out to EHS legislative specialists, regional specialists and/or legal counsel for guidance, interpretation, compliance understanding and integration is the key.
Responsible for the employee facing environmental issues including chemical safety, hygiene, waste management & recycling, transportation demand management, working with Facilities, and Government Relations on footprinting RIM.
Ensuring that the physical and cognitive demands of each role at RIM is thoroughly assessed for improvement , accommodation potential and to define parameters of safe, legally compliant functional job testing if necessary.
Regional Health & Safety Specialists consult with the specialty service managers and the Senior Manager, EHS Support Services on topics that fall into their respective areas of expertise.

3. (25%) Manages the Specialty teams of environment, emergency and disaster planning, organizational health & ergonomics.
Accountable for team performance and drives efficiencies globally in these areas
To ensure that all Specialists in this area have required designations and perform in a manner acceptable to their professional standards.
Develops, directs and monitors the objectives, goals and projects by continually revising, creating, advising and implementing based on corporate needs, risks and priorities.
Responsible for the overall Organizational Health program to ensure that our employee\'s health is being addressed within legal parameters and provides a credible, valuable service to our workforce.

4. (20%) Promotes the EHS specialty service team globally throughout the business, and to external association.
Facilitating and coordinating business linkages within OD and the Business Units to enhance participation, buy in and response in these specialty areas. Hence, leveraging a stronger networking and deploying of services amongst their commonalities bringing different expertise together for a holistic program.
Facilitating a healthy, safe physical environment with Facilities and business areas to ensure that common goals are met within EHS standards. Advocates for change and introduction of new environmental leading practices (LEED buildings, green space, ergonomic open concepts, and functional space designs).

5. (5%) Oversees systems, processes and working practices of the specialty group and is constantly seeking improvements, maintains regular reporting and scorecards.
Manages the analysis of statistics and detailed information on Workers compensation (i.e. NEER) projections, impact and EHS specialty services budgets globally.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree in Health Sciences or related technical area
Masters degree in Business Admin preferred
Extensive post graduate education in Occupational Health & Safety
CRSP designation is an asset
10 years + experiences in a similar managerial role with multiple specialty EHS experience
Management experience preferred
8-10 years experience managing or influencing people at a management level
Multi-site/country experience preferred
Thorough knowledge and interpretation skills of all relevant legislation and regulations, including program development & implementation.
Excellent planning and organization skills with a demonstrated record of safety performance improvement, return to work, and claims management.
Strong leadership, building partnerships, collaboration and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, facilitation and negotiation skills.
Experience with high level training development and delivery is a definite requirement to various levels of professional and non-professional people.
Proficient with computer applications including MS word, excel, email and database programs.
