POSITION SUMMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate\'s responsibilities will include
Designing, developing and carrying out the test cases for RIM wireless handhelds
Investigating and troubleshooting the protocol layer issues
Participating in carriers\' acceptance testing procedures
Working closely with the stack development team in Waterloo, and the customer interface team, to ensure a smooth acceptance for RIM products
Participating in design and development discussions
Working with the field testing team, and troubleshooting issues where required

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical/Computer Eng/computer Science/Telecommunications
Minimum 3 years of experience with wireless protocol testing, specifically GSM, GPRS, EDGE and or UMTS
Excellent understanding of GSM/GPRS/EDGE and/OR UMTS protocol stack
Good knowledge 3GPP and/OR 3GPP2 specifications
Hands-on experience with test tools and equipment
Ability to work independently at customer and/or 3rd party lab
Ability to work in a cross-functional group environment
Must have excellent problem resolving skills
Good communication (oral and written) skills
Ability to work in an independent and team environment
Highly self-motivated

ADDITIONAL ASSETS
System Design experience, with an excellent understanding of mobile phones software and hardware architecture
Ability to travel internationally under short notice is a definite asset
