POSITION SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate\'s responsibilities will include:
• Designing, developing and carrying out the test cases for RIM wireless handhelds
• Investigating and troubleshooting the protocol layer issues
• Participating in carriers\' acceptance testing procedures
• Working closely with the stack development team in Waterloo, and the customer interface team, to ensure a smooth acceptance for RIM products
• Participating in design and development discussions
• Working with the field testing team, and troubleshooting issues where required
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical/Computer Eng/computer Science/Telecommunications
• Minimum 3 years of experience with wireless protocol testing, specifically GSM, GPRS, EDGE and or UMTS
• Excellent understanding of GSM/GPRS/EDGE and/OR UMTS protocol stack
• Good knowledge 3GPP and/OR 3GPP2 specifications
• Hands-on experience with test tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently at customer and/or 3rd party lab
• Ability to work in a cross-functional group environment
• Must have excellent problem resolving skills
• Good communication (oral and written) skills
• Ability to work in an independent and team environment
• Highly self-motivated
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
• System Design experience, with an excellent understanding of mobile phones software and hardware architecture
• Ability to travel internationally under short notice is a definite asset
