As a Product Manager you call the shots as the “CEO” of your own product line - responsible for managing all aspects of the product realization process, product lifecycle, and revenue generation. Capitalize on your unique combination of wireless technical expertise and burgeoning business acumen to analyze the marketplace, customer requirements, and competitors to develop a winning strategy and to execute the business plan. Use your excellent communication and decision-making skills to work closely with your cross functional team to prioritize and execute product roadmaps that hit the market window and deliver one-of-a-kind value to Spirent’s customers. After defining the market-changing product and shepherding it through the realization process, you’ll use your marketeering skills to position the product and to create a go to market plan with your counterparts in product marketing. Take your message to the global market by traveling to meet with the industry’s leading movers and shakers in the world’s greatest cities. Author an industry article or two that turn up when you’re Googled. Then kick back and be showered with accolades from the sales team and senior management. It will make you feel so good you’ll want to do it all over again!

Product Champion - Owns the overall responsibility for making the product successful and for facilitating product-related issue resolution
Market Research and Collection of Customer Requirements - Collects customer requirements from internal and external customers. Interfaces with customers primarily at the end-user level. Clearly defines and prioritizes customer requests as part of a funnel of potential products/enhancements. Develops basic ROI calculations on potential product offerings.
Business Plans - Develops annual sales forecast for associated products as well as key business activities required to meet target business objectives.

Product Definition & Requirements Specification - Owns the development of product definitions for new products and/or major product enhancements. Define product feature requirements. Work with product development to prioritize features and resolve resource conflicts.

Product Manufacturability - Reviews and approves shipment packaging. Reviews manufacturing test plan to ensure proper coverage of key performance characteristics. Consults with Operations on product production planning (e.g. run rates)

Product Documentation - Defines structure and contents of user manual. May author sections of user manual source material. Reviews and approves final user manual.

Standards Participation - Works to stay informed of current and evolving standards that may impact product requirements or product success. Directly participates in Standards activities as necessary.

Product Positioning & Competitive Analysis - Defines and documents customer value proposition for products. Understands competitive landscape and differentiates products from competitive offerings

Product Pricing Strategy - Sets pricing strategy based on value-proposition and competitive positioning. Provides source material (including part #'s and prices) for product pricelist including ASA offerings. Maintains profit margin analysis on individual product offerings

Product Marketing & Sales Collateral Development - Develops source material, and in some cases the final versions, of sales and marketing collateral (includes press releases, brochures, data sheets, tech specs, customer & sales training presentations, white papers, application notes...). Supports (owns, as necessary) tradeshows and other marketing events.

Product Launches - Owns the definition of product launch plans

Sales Support & Development - Provides periodic Sales team training on new product capabilities. Accompanies Sales Team on customer road shows as part of initial product launches. Participates directly in individual sales opportunities in highly competitive or strategic sales situations.

Travel - World-wide travel, on average 25% of time with peaks to 50%. Personally responsible to set travel schedule to meet customer facing and product promotion requirements.

Product Meetings & Communication - Owns the periodic Product Meetings associated with product line(s). Keeps meeting minutes and is responsible for tracking status of action items. Communicates key customer and market activities to the product team. Educates company staff on market-related information.

Product Training & Initial Product Support - Responsible for ensuring that the Sales and Applications Engineering teams are properly trained on product capabilities and use. May take part in post-sales customer support during initial product introduction or for advanced application issues

Product Roadmap Planning - Maintains a documented 12-18 month product roadmap and communicates to internal and external customers.

Education: MBA from top tier Business School; BS/MS in technical field (e.g. BSEE)

·Experience: 5+ years including roles associated with product realization
·Technical Experience required: mobile handset, air interface. Great Track record!
. Previous experience in product development, product marketing, or product test in wireless digital communications (e.g. GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, WiFi)
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
. Autonomous, self-starter with desire to champion and grow product lines
