POSITION SUMMARY

Research In Motion is looking for a technical, results oriented individual with strong resource management and communications skills to head an experienced team of software testers. This candidate should have experience leading large test teams in a distributed, highly-scalable, multi-tiered server-based application environment. This individual will manage the success of all software testing activities for projects of various sizes, work collaboratively with other managers to shape the growth and direction of the software testing organization and provide direction and goals for meeting software quality objectives. Research In Motion is the world-wide leader in wireless email communications, serving millions of customers. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related subject area required
10+ years in the software industry including strong program/project management skills
5+ years experience managing software testing teams of at least 5 testers
5+ years working with high-volume, large scale, server-based applications and services
Proven ability to attract, recruit and retain top-notch talent
Experience working on cross-department efforts by communicating and negotiating with multiple teams to accomplish goals
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate highly complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
Track record in releasing successful software products to market
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of software testing \"best practices\" combined with the ability to \"think outside the box\"
High proficiency writing and executing accepted Quality Assurance (QA) processes
Proven success working and partnering with remote teams
Proactive, great attention to detail, results-oriented problem solver, critical thinker, and ability to meet aggressive deadlines
Ability to succeed with little direct supervision
Prior experience managing, mentoring and coaching team leads
Strong leadership with ability to motivate team members while demonstrating the need to meet quality objectives
Ability to optimize productivity across the team while still maintaining quality standards
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across many constituencies and in time-sensitive situations
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done
Demonstrated knowledge of UI, load, stress, performance and memory testing tools
Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing statistical process to extrapolate test coverage and completeness from multiple data points, such as bugs and test cases

ADDITIONAL ASSETS
High proficiency using automated test tools to conduct QA testing
Working knowledge of Agile development processes
Software development background/experience
