3D Application Specialist Engineer San Diego CA

We are searching for a Staff Engineer / BSP (Board Support Package) Software belonging to the R&D unit in San Diego, California to help with the development of our premium mobile phones. This role will focus on the development of 3D applications. The engineer will work both with internal developers at the site, as well as with external developers especially chipset partners. Experience in software development within the low level software and/or Windows Mobile BSP (Board Support Package) area is a prerequisite. Previous experience with Open GL or Direct X is required.

Day-to-Day Experience:
The successful candidate for this role will work on making specification, coding, and debugging/verifying BSP Software, specifically for 3D applications, in combination with his/her long experience together with chipset partners and often with help of engineers at other Sony Ericsson sites to secure the BSP for our products. Work also includes the interaction and co-operation with Microsoft as well as 3rd party application software partners. There will be a fair share of business travel.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Executive status reports to R&D management
- Participate in planning and/or feasibility study for future technology development
- Participate in further process development within R&D

To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:
- Absolute minimum a Bachelor’s of Computer Science or similar is required.
- At least 3 or more years experience in software development especially within low level software.
- Open GL or Direct X programming experience
- Experience in Windows Mobile BSP development is extremely valuable.
- Strong communication, coordination, organization, and reporting skills required.
- The ability to independently coordinate and follow-up with other team members on a peer level basis.
- Previous gaming experience would be helpful.
- Ability to travel internationally.
