ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Must have hands on experience with testing equipment
Experience with RF signal verification preferred
Experience with Lab setup and automation activities preferred
Must be well versed in 2.5 G and 3G specifications from 3GPP
Computer Science, EE Degree or related discipline
Detail-oriented
Able to manage time effectively and independently
Proven ability to provide accurate results in a timely manner within a fast-paced work environment
Strong problem-solving and communication skills to interact with project coordinators, managers and certification specialists

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

Knowledge of RF measurements, software testing or test laboratory procedures
Experience with WiFi and Bluetooth a plus
3 to 5 years experience is required in handheld or network testing environment
Familiarity with various testing equipment
Experience with or knowledge of some or all of these wireless 3GPP protocols: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS

POSITION SUMMARY

As part of Blackberry Product Realization Team, the candidate will perform testing and analysis of the radio and protocol performance of GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS handhelds. The testing is primarily focused on Layers 1, 2 and 3 and the application layer. The test requirements are set by 3GPP and OMA and are part of the GCF/PTCRB approval process. Primary duties include test setup, execution, result analysis, documentation and test equipment maintenance.

The successful candidate will be working with cutting edge BlackBerry hardware and software and will verify that these products conform to the mandatory compliance tests outlined by third-party certification bodies. In addition, you will also be responsible for troubleshooting test equipment issues, debugging tests for new technologies (GPS, DTM, etc) and helping automate testing wherever possible. Finally the successful candidate will be required to understand testing specifications and BlackBerry products, work closely with the project coordinator to perform tests, report results and incidences as required, and work closely with the team responsible for the certification of all new GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS BlackBerry products on various 2G and 3G carrier networks.
